Removal Services

Moving can be a stressful enough time on its own, Buxton & Co is here to take as much of that stress out of the job as possible. We pride ourselves on being flexible and can offer:

Packing or removal only: at very competitive rates;

Hourly Rate work:  e.g. two men and a truck from depot to depot

Fixed price: e.g. we can do quotes for the total cost of your move, including packing prices.

Nothing is too big or too small, we can help with single rooms or house lots, commercial buildings, one off bulky items, and our specialty - piano removals.

All removals are carried out under the provisions of the carriage of goods act and our standard terms and conditions. In most circumstances they are therefore carried at the owners risk and so it is important to talk with your insurer and considering specific cover for valuable loads.

Piano moving questions

Q: Can we move pianos around 45 degree turns?
A: In most cases, this is achievable by placing the piano on its side with suitable protection.

Q: Why do I need a piano mover?
A: Piano moving, like all trades, is a specialty in itself.  The average piano weighs between 400 and 900 pounds whereas grand pianos weigh more.  The value of a piano can vary from a couple of dollars to half a million dollars depending on the make and condition. You need people that know what they are doing.

Q: How are pianos moved?
A: We use 2-3 people with our specialist equipment, such as piano boards, moving pads, strops, ramps, and a stair-climbing machine where needed.  If you attempt to move a piano yourself, you risk damage to the piano and to those carrying it.  The move can also take 2-20 times longer than if we relocated it.

Q: If I hire a professional mover does that mean my piano will not get damaged?
A: As in any move, there is always an element of risk. We do the best we can to make sure your piano is taken care of.
